This is a limited edition of 500 hand-painted character cels from Walt Disney Pictures' Academy Award-winning animated feature Beauty and the Beast (1991). It is one of a series of selected limited-edition, hand-painted reproductions of original artwork from Disney animated films.
No production cels were created in the making of Beauty and the Beast. Thus, Disney artists have recreated the artwork from this film using traditional animation techniques. Original animation drawings were transferred to acetate "cels" by a special six-step xerographic process. The cels were also enhanced with hand-inked lines and airbrush effects.
Disney artists then hand-painted each of the cels in the edition with Disney-approved acrylic colors. The background scene accompanying this cel is a faithful reproduction of the original background used in the making of the film. The resulting artwork has been printed on premium-quality paper by Color Service Inc., of Monterey Park, California.
The original animation drawings, along with the original background, are maintained by the Disney Animation Research Library. Conforming to the practice of fine-art printing, the film used to create the background was destroyed when the edition was completed.

Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
