Donald Duck, Donkey

PRODUCTION: Mickey's Polo Team, 1936

ABOUT THE FILM: An uncooperative Donkey gives Donald Duck a hard time in this wonderful model drawing from the 1936 Disney short Mickey's Polo Team. The David Hand-directed short saw Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goody, and the Big Bad Wolf going against a team of Hollywood stars from the era, Lauren and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, and Harpo Marx. Featured on a 12-field 5-peghole animation sheet, this hilarious image of Donald pushing his donkey, similar to the one seen at the 6:29 mark of the short, features the characters rendered in graphite and showing notes and details with red pencil. A note in graphite is seen on the bottom right corner that reads "Model Tracing Heumer," possibly referring to animator Dick Huemer.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original production drawings are one-of-a-kind pieces of art that were used in the creation of an animated film or television show. Each has been hand-drawn by studio artists!
