Sneezy
MEDIUM: Original Storyboard Drawing, Graphite
IMAGE SIZE: 7" x 5.5"
PRODUCTION: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
YEAR: 1937
SKU: CCV4182
ABOUT THE IMAGE: An excited Sneezy makes a charming appearance in this original early storyboard drawing from Disney's 1937 iconic breakout feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Many of the Dwarfs in this film share features, but it is the unique combination of those features that makes them identifiable. Sneezy, for example, has a short beard, a relatively thin torso, moderately bulbous nose, and a typically downturned tip on his hat all of which are depicted in this storyboard.
Sneezy makes some similar poses throughout the film including while calling "Hi-Ho!" as the clock strikes 5 pm in the Dwarfs' introductory song, during the discovery of their royal houseguest, and during the "Silly Song" after dinner. It is also possible this storyboard may have been created for the deleted Bed Building scene where the Dwarfs in turn excitedly suggest gifts to craft for Snow.
The storyboard has been rendered in graphite and colored pencil featuring a full-figured Sneezy measuring 3.75" x 4" on the sheet of animation paper trimmed to approximately 7" x 5.5" overall and numbered 32 in the lower left.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original Storyboard Drawings are essential planning tools, serving as graphic organizers for the sequence, camera angles, character blocking, and flow of animated films. Storyboards offer filmmakers a glimpse of the film's visual progression, resembling comic strips with detailed frames that show character actions, camera angles, and dialog. Having an original production storyboard from one of your favorite movies or short films is a great collector's piece!

ABOUT:
Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
"The "Posing" series did grow out of the previous "Hide and Seek" series that focused on the questions of one's attempt to hide their intellectual honesty in order to seek out a newly designed image... a "Poser" tsunami of posturing between who was being real, and who was obviously pretending to be real, often with the intent to deceive, could no longer be ignored." - Tom Everhart
