ABOUT THE IMAGE: "I presume, my boy, you are the keeper of this oracle pig?" Taran unsuccessfully attempts to ward off one of the Horned King's henchman in this phenomenal sequence of 9 original storyboards from Disney's 1985 dark fantasy The Black Cauldron. Here, Taran accidentally stumbles upon the henchmen's clamorous pub-like mess hall while searching for Hen Wen, tumbling from the rafters near the 22:24 timestamp. These storyboards depict his subsequent encounter with the unruly henchmen and first meeting of the villainous Horned King.
Rendered in mixed media, this sequence is composed of 3 hand-drawn storyboards (numbered 121, 122, and 130 in red within the art) and 6 studio prints that have each been hand-embellished with impressive detail for lighting and effects. They range in overall size from approximately 8.75" x 5" to 11" x 5" and have been mounted along with dialogue notes and scene numbers to a 37.75" x 27.75" lightweight backing board.
The storyboard elements all bear corner pinholes from production use; the backing board exhibits minor surface staining and edge tears with a missing lower right corner. There is typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning throughout.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original Storyboard Drawings show what’s moving in each shot, and in which direction, so that the production team is crystal clear on the desired end result – which is exactly what a professional storyboard should do. This piece shows the Horned King with Creeper as the King paces the castle! Having a Storyboard from one of your favorite movies is a great collector's piece! Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity!
ABOUT THE FILM: The Black Cauldron is an American animated feature dark fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and originally released to theaters on July 24, 1985. The twenty-fifth animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon and Disney's first PG-rated animated film, the film is based on the first two books in Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain five-volume book series, which is, in turn, based on Welsh mythology.
Set in the mythical land of Prydain during the Early Middle Ages, the film centers on the evil Horned King who hopes to secure an ancient magical object known as The Black Cauldron that will aid him in his desire to conquer the world. He is opposed by a young pig keeper named Taran, the young princess Eilonwy, the bard Fflewddur Fflam, and a wild creature named Gurgi who seeks to destroy the Cauldron, to prevent the Horned King from ruling the world.

ABOUT:
Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
"The "Posing" series did grow out of the previous "Hide and Seek" series that focused on the questions of one's attempt to hide their intellectual honesty in order to seek out a newly designed image... a "Poser" tsunami of posturing between who was being real, and who was obviously pretending to be real, often with the intent to deceive, could no longer be ignored." - Tom Everhart
