ABOUT THE IMAGE: Long considered to be one of Mickey's greatest shorts, Two-Gun Mickey sent Mickey, Minnie, and Peg Leg Pete back to the wild west! Pete chases after cowgirl Minnie, but Mickey doesn't let him get to her without a fight. The mouse and his faithful steed are the focus of this rare 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing from the Ben Sharpsteen-directed short. A few of Disney's "Nine Old Men" and other recognizable names at the studio contributed to the animation of the short, including Art Babbitt, Les Clark, Ollie Johnston, Eric Larson, Hamilton Luske, Fred Moore, and Wolfgang Reitherman. Mickey and his horse appear starting at about 5:54 as the horse charges down a steep cliff to get to Pete, the full figure pose dynamic, detailed, and action-packed on the page. The graphite with color pencil figures, marked 3B in the lower right, measures about 6.75'' x 4'' and is a testament to the magic and appeal of Mickey Mouse.
