SIZE: 12.5" x 10.5" (Cel), 7" X 5.25" (Image)
PRODUCTION: You're A Good Sport, Charlie Brown, 1975
SKU: CCV3484
ABOUT THE IMAGE: These three matching hand-painted animation cels of Marcie and Charlie Brown were created and photographed together during production of the TV special "You're A Good Sport, Charlie Brown" based on the Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schulz. The drawing is an animator's extreme created by a studio animator, with grid at right, and the cel of Charlie Brown was made directly from it.
In the motocross segment, Marcie plays a reporter who interviews Charlei Brown before the race: "This contestant is Charlie Brown." Studio notations "98K CB 1," "98KE-1," and "98K M1" are written at lower right to mark each cel's place in the film. The drawing of Charlie Brown is annotated with cel paint colors, production stamps, and "Sc. 98-K CB-1."
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original production cels are one-of-a-kind pieces of art that were used in the creation of an animated film or television show. Each has been hand-painted by studio artists on a piece of celluloid acetate, and has been photographed over a background painting to create a frame of the finished production.

ABOUT:
Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
"The "Posing" series did grow out of the previous "Hide and Seek" series that focused on the questions of one's attempt to hide their intellectual honesty in order to seek out a newly designed image... a "Poser" tsunami of posturing between who was being real, and who was obviously pretending to be real, often with the intent to deceive, could no longer be ignored." - Tom Everhart
